About Annika and AKC
Annika Carraher graduated from Liverpool University Veterinary School in 2009, following a BSc in Animal Science and Welfare and some time working as a groom and nurse at an equine veterinary practice. Immediately after graduating, Annika worked in a mixed practice in West Sussex, before moving to Wiltshire and then finally returning south to settle in Surrey, to work in a fully equine practice. Following an injury, she moved to small animal veterinary work.
Annika went on to study Veterinary Chiropractic with the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic (IAVC), and Acupuncture with the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA), after having the corner stone belief that there are limitations in both the prevention and treatment of injuries in equine and small animal patients, especially those in competition. With the aim to integrate these techniques into preventative and rehabilitation care of all animals, to ensure the best possible outcome and future success, Annika now works alongside veterinary medicine with chiropractic and acupuncture techniques, offering treatments within the Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire areas.
Mainly treating equine and canine patients, Annika has an interest in sporting and competition animals as well as maintaining comfort and mobility in the geriatric patient. Her services do not include routine veterinary treatments, so if deemed not suitable for the treatment and require a full veterinary examination first, the animal will be referred back to their regular vet for assessment.
Outside of work, Annika has previously competed her own horses in dressage and eventing classes. She has also competed her dog in agility. Annika loves all things outdoors, travelling and enjoys cooking for friends and family.
