CLASS IV LASER THERAPY

What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy, also known as Photobiomodulation (PBM), is a gentle, non‑invasive treatment that supports the body’s natural healing processes. PBM targets damaged cells, helping them regenerate more efficiently. This reduces inflammation, eases pain, and accelerates healing — all by energising your pet’s cells at a deep, therapeutic level.

Laser therapy is drug‑free, non‑invasive, and side‑effect free when performed by trained professionals. It can be used as a standalone treatment or alongside your pet’s existing veterinary care plan.

Most pets find their sessions soothing and enjoyable — especially with a treat or two involved.

What Conditions Can Laser Therapy Help With?

Laser therapy can significantly reduce pain and inflammation associated with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including:

  • Infections
  • Inflammation
  • Sprains and strains
  • Post‑surgical recovery
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Lick granulomas
  • Wounds
  • Fractures
  • Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Dental disease and stomatitis
  • Otitis
  • Rhinitis / sinusitis
  • Urinary tract disorders
  • Hot spots

What Happens During a Treatment Session?

  • You and your pet will settle somewhere comfortable where they can relax for a few minutes.
  • The laser device will be switched on, giving your pet time to get used to the gentle beeping sound — almost all animals are completely unbothered by it.
  • Both you and the therapist will wear protective goggles. Dogs who tolerate them may wear “doggles”; otherwise, a safe visual barrier is used.
  • Once your pet is comfortable and the correct settings are chosen, the therapist will move the handpiece over the treatment area. Depending on the condition, this may be done with or without direct contact.
  • Your pet may feel a mild warming sensation as the laser works to ease discomfort and promote healing.
  • Sessions last only a few minutes, require no shaving or clipping, and most pets become very relaxed — some even drift off to sleep.

For horses, sessions take a little longer and can be carried out in the stable or wash‑down area.

How Often Will My Pet Need Treatment?

The frequency of sessions depends on the condition being treated:

Acute conditions often benefit from twice‑weekly sessions for 3–4 weeks.

Chronic conditions may require weekly, fortnightly, or monthly sessions, tailored to your pet’s individual needs.
